Virus and Spyware Removal
A computer virus is a computer program that can copy itself and infect a computer.
The term "computer virus" is sometimes used as a catch-all phrase to include all types of malware, even those that do not have the reproductive ability. Malware includes computer viruses, computer worms, Trojan horses, most rootkits, spyware, dishonest adware and other malicious and unwanted software, including true viruses.
Spyware is a type of malware that is installed on computers and collects little bits of information at a time about users without their knowledge. The presence of spyware is typically hidden from the user, and can be difficult to detect. Whilst severe infection by either a virus or spyware usually results in unusable PC, sometimes, the only indication might be a slowing down of the computer.
Here at Mr Lawrence Computing, in order to effectively remove any computer virus, the hard disk drive of an infected computer is interrogated using one of the many “clean” machines within our workshop facility and this process can take a number of hours to complete.
After successful removal, the hard disk drive is then replaced back to your computer and if necessary the operating system (usually Windows) is either “repaired” or reinstalled, depending on the damage the virus might have caused to the software on your computer.
After a satisfactory repair and everything is fully functional once more, an up-to-date antivirus program such as AVG Free is installed and to keep on top of the spyware and other malware problem Ithe latest versions of Spybot and Adaware. N.B. Though these free versions are perfectly adequate for the general domestic computer user, the author’s of AVG, Spybot and Adaware do also have full versions with additional features available from their respective websites.
